You won’t be able to achieve what you want when you don’t have the right kind of tools for the job. There are different types of pruning tools used for cutting unwanted branches. Choosing the proper tool for a cutting job normally hinges on the size of branches you’ll be pruning.

Different types of tools for cutting

Hand Pruner Tool

This type of tool is useful when you are cutting branches with a diameter of 1 inch or less. To achieve the cleanest cuts, always choose bypass pruners. They cut like a pair of scissors with a curved cutting blade that slides past a lower broad blade.

Lopper Type Tool

Lopper is also called lopping shears. This type of tool is the perfect choice for cutting branches 2 inches in diameter. This tool also has a label letting you know what size of branches it can cut. For its operation, again, bypass cutting blades yield a cleaner cut without crushing plant tissues. Loppers with handles in varying lengths, including ones that telescope to extend your reach, are good.

Pruning Saw Type tool

Pruning saws are specifically designed to cut branches with a diameter of 3 inches, although with more effort you can use them to cut slightly bigger branches.  Just like normal saws, pruning saws also cut on the pull stroke as well as on the push stroke. in this way, every movement of the saw produces a cut.

Rope Saw Tool

A rope saw tool uses a chain-type cutting blade.  It’s an idea for cutting branches 5 inches in diameter. Most rope saws allow you to stand easily on the ground & cut limbs up to 25 feet high.  You can simply add extension ropes to increase the reach.

Chainsaw

A chainsaw type tool gives you the cleanest cut when you are dealing with limbs thicker than 3 inches.

Pole Pruner

A pole pruner type tool allows you to cut branches easily that are beyond your reach. Most of the pole pruners cut limbs up to 2 inches in diameter. To get the cleanest, healthiest cuts, always choose a bypass-style pruner.

Bow Saw

The bow saw is a common manual tree cutting tool. Simply place the bow saw on the branch that you are trying to cut down & then effectively rock it back & forth. This motion will cut instantly.  These saws are usually very popular for their ease of use.

Hatchet

You can use a Hatchet to effectively cut tree limbs & even you can cut down small trees. This is considered the most effective tool in cutting trees & its branches.

Crosscut Saw

Crosscut saws are just like Bow saw & the operation is almost the same by placing the saw on a tree & simply rock the saw back & forth for perfect cutting. Cutting down trees or its branches with this tool is very convenient & it’s one of the best manual tree cutting options that you can consider.
