What to look for when buying a Stroller

Strollers come in various shapes, sizes & durability. It’s a fact that parents do not compromise on the safety of their kids. Safety is the first priority that parents give especially when they buy something for their kids. In the matter of strollers, here are few basic things which you need to keep in mind when buying a stroller for your infant or toddlers to keep them secure.

Safety Features:

Make sure twice a stroller frame firmly locks into position perfectly, with a mechanism that is easy to use. This prevents it from collapsing accidentally while carrying a child. Also, examine the frame for sharp edges carefully & other uncovered areas. Because small fingers & toes can get caught between metal parts or pinched by uncovered springs. Better prefer stroller which is certified from the Juvenile Products Manufacturers Association (JPMA) to ensure that the stroller which you are buying, it meets current safety standards.

Harnesses in stroller:

A restraint system is necessary too. The safest system is a 5-point harness that wraps around the waist & between the legs & comes down over the shoulders. The buckle should also easy to hook/unhook.

Adjustable seat of stroller:

Keep in mind that newborns need a seat that reclines to an almost flat position until they have head control & can sit up, usually by around 6 months old. Even for older babies or toddlers, also reclining seat feature allows your baby to get a nap when you are on the go.  So, the seat’s recline mechanism should be easy to use, preferably single-handed.

The maneuverability of the wheels:

Maneuverability is an important function. You should be able to push a stroller in a straight line easily & turn it with one hand. Wheels that can swivel in the front & rear makes a stroller easier to turn.

Brake feature:

A brake is another important feature. Make sure that they are easy to operate, even if you are wearing open-toed shoes. Test them first, the wheels should lock as soon as you engage the break. This factor is important to stop the stroller. If you are buying a Jogging stroller remember they may have hand-operated brakes as well as foot brakes.

Handle height of stroller:

Make sure that handles are at the pusher’s waist level or slightly below. Most strollers are built for the average-size woman. Which are easy to push.

Canopy feature:

An adjustable shade is also a plus feature. It will protect your child from the sunlight, rain, wind & can make rides more comfortable. Make sure these canopies built with fabric that offers UV protection.

Storage feature in stroller:

An under-the-seat basket can be handy for storing diapers, milk bottles or water bottles or extra pair of a suite or other miscellaneous items for your kid.

The washable fabric of the stroller:

It’s a fact that wherever your baby goes, messes are sure. The washable fabric is easy to clean. Make sure never use bleach for the fabric as it may fade the genuine color of the fabric.

The versatility of a stroller:

The stroller should also be versatile. Single strollers that can convert to a double & triple are quite useful for parents who plan to have more children.
